Our Vision
At Brandling Primary School, we aim to inspire pupils to be innovative and creative thinkers who appreciate Design and Technology. Children explore existing products, identify their consumer and consider what their finished product will need to achieve. They then select materials, develop skills and techniques and produce designs in a range of formats. Evaluation is an important part of the process and is built into every step of the explore, design and make process. Our units of work are carefully sequenced to ensure that children's knowledge and skills build as they progress through school and that they experience a range of Design Technology topics, including construction, electrical systems, mechanical systems, textiles and food technology. Children develop a curiosity and love of Design and Technology throughout their time at Brandling along with an understanding of how Design and Technology impacts and enhances our everyday lives. By researching, developing and making a range of products for different consumers, children become more resourceful, enterprising citizens who will have the skills to contribute to future design advancements.
