Chestnut Class Year 2 (2020-2021)

Miss Tyers - Class Teacher

Ms Taplin - Teaching Assistant

In Science this term, we are learning all about living things and their habitats. We have learned a lot so far and we even made our very own microhabitats for the minibeasts that live all around us in school.

Can you remember what the word 'habitat' means?

Take a look at our knowledge organiser and read our key vocabulary for this term.

In Geography so far this term, we have been learning all about the oceans and seas that cover the Earth.

Did you know that the Earth is made up of approximately 71% water?

Have a read of our knowledge organiser and learn even more cool facts!

Another fantastic week filled with lots of learning in Chestnut class. You have made Miss Taplin and I so proud!

In English, we have been learning about a mysterious Tear Thief. We used the concept used in the story to create our very own main characters to replace her. Here are some of Year 2’s sensational creations.

In maths, we have been tackling some tough division tasks. It has been tricky but I think Chestnut have cracked the code. We have also kept on top of our times tables by continuing our Bingo Championship.

In Topic, we have been delving deeper into the works of Leonardo Da Vinci. Year 2 were challenged to draw their very own version of the famous Mona Lisa painting. Here are some of the amazing results! Take a bow Year 2.

Chestnut have been a very busy class this week. We have been working so hard from home, online and in school. Well done Chestnut! In Math, we have been mastering our multiplication skills and getting competitive with Times Table Bingo. Congratulations to our winners Sai Ramadass and Riley Watson. In English, we are coming to the end of our story – Meerkat Mail. Chestnut were challenged to write a diary entry as Sunny. I think Sunny would be proud.

We also began our new Art topic. This term we will be learning all about the famous, Leonardo De Vinci. Chestnut were feeling inspired and attempted to create their own masterpieces. Have a look at some of the amazing self-portraits by some of our class. To see all of the amazing creations you can look on Class Dojo. We are so impressed!
